Stow Maries Living History Weekend

  • Sat 19 Jul 2025 to Sun 20 Jul 2025

  • 10AM - 3PM

Join us at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome to step back in time. Over a thousand years of history brought to life!

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome has so many stories to tell - its bursting at the seams! We tell them in all sorts of ways.
One of the most popular, loved by many, is the presentation of Living History.

At our Living History events, expert historians explain and explore life in the past, showing the visitors all the little things that the books and the internet might miss.

What does it feel like to wear those clothes?

What does that food taste like?

Why did they do THAT, instead of THAT?

Did they really know how to do THAT??!!

Now, by popular request, we are throwing open our borders to take in centuries more of history.

At this Multi-period event, we will welcome Living Historians from through the ages...

So far, we can confirm that the following periods will be depicted, with more being confirmed every week!

  • Early Medieval (11-13th Century)
  • Baron's war (13th Century)
  • Late Medieval (15th Century)
  • Stuart (Specifically, mid-17th Century)
  • Great War
  • Second World War (Home Front)

We are still keen to see a few more Second World War Commonwealth groups, or Home Front. If you are interested, please do get in touch!

Come and journey back with us - there will be plenty to see and hear.

Also, don't forget - Admission covers access to the museum exhibitions and hangars, too!

Propeller Club Members can attend this event without admission charges.

Images include confirmed groups as well as some drawn from other events at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome and may not represent final event.

Living History Groups: If you are interested in attending, please contact info@stowmaries.org.uk ASAP!

Are YOU a high qulity Living History practitioner? A re-enactment group?

We are interested in meeting new groups, as well as welcoming back old friends!

We are looking for a variety of periods to be covered to celebrate the Living History community and all it has to offer. We are most interested in full camp set-ups, as opposed to table-top displays.

We are interested, specifically, in applications from

Anglo-Saxon and Viking

Tudor

17th Century

Regency / Napoleonic

Victorian

Second World War Allied - Home Front and Commonwealth Forces
